About Me

Leslie Blacklock

My artistic journey…

During my 30+ year design career I was an Architectural Technologist, Interior Designer and Project Manager.  I had my own design firm for many years and then enjoyed 20 years with a Saskatchewan Architectural / Interior Design firm, including 13 as a Partner, based out of the Prince Albert office.

I have always had a love for art and have wanted to explore painting for many years.

I began working as an artist in 2018.

I paint primarily in acrylic, but also explore in watercolour and graphite.

I have a lifelong love and appreciation for art.  My parents appreciated good art and had a small, but wonderful collection in our farm home, east of Saskatoon: Maybelle Farm, where my inspiration for my first solo show, Cows Clouds Barns and Elevators, came from.  I am fortunate enough to have several of Mom and Dads’ works of art: they grace my own studio space and bring me daily enjoyment.

Workshops that I have taken include:

  • Open Studio Painting with Degen Lindner | weekly (Winter 2021)
  • Artist Workshop with George Glenn | 5 days (2019)
  • Introduction to Painting with Cheryl Tuck Tallon | 5 days (2018)
  • Introduction to Painting with Fred Bahr | weekly (Spring 2018)
  • Graphite Class with Christina Thoen | weekly (2017-18)
